Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Q for broadcom employees here

So sorry for what some of my VMW colleagues are going through with no clarity. I'm one of lucky ones in US who got the offer. Salary got a massive hit but they made it up with stocks.

If there are Broadcom folks here particularly CA, Symantec what's the culture like? Are you happy after all these years?

Good to hear it's just work with decent people around. I was fine with some of the extras at vmw but also could do without and not notice. Guess I'll find out soon enough.

Symantec here - the culture is whatever the people around you came from- mine being Symantec - minus team outings, swag, and birthday cakes. I think it’s important to separate the business model from the people here.

Broadcom SW employee here, no carrier politics, no swag and parties. Besides that company as any other. If VMware really has a special „culture“ lived by employees, you can keep that going. Most of you will land in one of VMware BUs / Divitions, surrounded only by former VMware colleagues. If the culture get lost, there never was one. I worked some years also for VMware before, I left, and miss nothing

I am from CA, and certainly I am happy as I just enjoy working and getting my pay without looking for add on benefits like team lunches, dinners, parties etc.,
