I got RIF in this May. When WD started layoff, the pattern was every 6 months. So if there is one coming, November big chance. My advice for you if you are still in WD but not that happy, right now is not a good time for job hunting, market is tough, not easy to find a job, so unless you got cut, then just stay in WD. If you were from legacy WD, and your boss or your boss's boss were from HGST, prepare to leave, start looking and learning. Those s**ts from HGST have no respect to legacy WD people, and they have no competition in the market. I do find a job now, better pay, but a lot to learn and more oppurtunities and growth, but it did take me couple months to find this one, and not my dream area. So, if you are saved this round, just start looking and learning, preparing, or get the package at least

It’s so FUNNY 😂 😂 how you can tell the HGST people they are the ones whom keep saying WD needed HGST to survive…
YET WD bought HGST not the other way around and now it is HGST MANAGEMENT that has run WD into the position the company is in now!!!
Yeah I got hit in May too. It's a really tough market 157 job applications and 8 interviews later still looking. Super saturated with tech folks.....LoL who knows what the future holds 😉....just need one successful offer.
I still think nothing will happen, layoff required termination compensation, dont think there is any intentions to do that right now since cashflow is tight, every dollar is precious now. Probably will hit contractors that easy to terminate and workers with low year of service.
@1szj+1pfy82Oe you forgot history, WD needed HGST, it was not the other way around
Haha, I saw a lot of HGST people here, don't like my post. You guys have no idea why WD becomes weak, and you have no idea why I said you were not competitive. I can finish my work in 1 month in legacy WD while 3 months with HGST. I spent 1~2 weeks to request a drive with HGST while got the drive in 1 hour before. But, I hope I was wrong about you, and you just work hard to show me wrong, cause I still got plenty stock in WD need to be out.
@hpv+1, you did not get the point. I own my decision to stay in WD, did not mean someone could treat others disrespectful. If I accepted an offer with lower pay, then that was my decision. But I did not accepted disrespectful. You need to be clear about that.
@OP+1pfy It is unfortunate anytime an employee loses their employment without choice. You landed a new position, so good luck. As for your post, you now choose to name call and blame others staying long after integration and leadership was in place. You had your reasons for staying, so own your decision to stay.
Ok
