Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Slack had lots of good information today

Most of the rest of letters for stay will go out very early tomorrow morning. There are 5 countries including the US.
involuntary let go is 60 days plus 1 week of service, RSU from last award cliff vest moved fwd to have 25% included
3 days to reject offer and get bc sev. of 4 months and 1 week of service RSU gone

If you don't get a letter those go out after Nov1

Seemingly impossible to time.....unless you have offers right now seems like you have to leap before you look. Otherwise you wait it out at BC and lose all your sev money :-(***

Speculation: Severance letters could not go out until after close.

Speculative Reasoning: Imagine if X number of people get a letter saying, "You will not have a job when the deal closes". (my own words). Can you imagine the damage that could potentially be done by folks that receive a layoff notice before close? And if the deal drags out (not saying it will have no idea about China blah blah blah), then there you are holding a termination letter with an unknown term date.
I think this would breed even more chaos.

Broadcom can submit offers but they cannot inform or submit termination until we officially become their employees. Therefore, assume that if you do not receive a transition or permanent offer, you will be terminated on Day 1.

This was confirmed by multiple people at the very top (Kit Colbert and few others)

The only ones who know are Broadcom. They treat the c-suite like the losers they are, throw them a bone, a pat on the head, and send the fools on their way.

Get ready for Hock-a-mania, will be wild!

who told you this? this is the first time I am hearing it

Also it's 60 days non-working notice period, last day Dec 29, then severance of 2 months min. + 1 wk/yr service. This was confirmed by multiple people at the very top (Kit Colbert and few others)

"We also were told, 3 types of letter. Termination being one of them."

Maybe the termination letters are being left to last, purposely. Why, who knows?

Cite your source, otherwise speculation.

I think you would still need a letter saying your being let go via the termination. We also were told, 3 types of letter. Termination being one of them.

As too why not post on the internal Slack. Simple my management are watching it, I've already had my manager speak to me, about a query i posted in Slack, telling me it caught the senior directors attention and how that reflects on our area. I don't dare post on it.

it is no way that most letters can go out tomorrow morning. it will take at least one week...

Since half of all employees are in the unofficial Slack channel anyway, why bother posting this here?

"Has it only been full time or transitional role letters so far? No lay offs?"

Lay offs will be automatic, if you don't receive a letter by the end of the week... since VMware will dismantle on October 31st,.. can we be under a contract with a company that doesn't exist anymore?
