On my offer letter it stated RSUs are awarded on a quarterly basis. Is it common place given good performance that X amount of RSUs are awarded every quarter ? If so what do you typically get awarded ?

Evaluation is a constant thing. Don’t wait to the month of your performance review to show work. The managers that survive at Broadcom can smell BS by distance. This is why things get done.
is the promotion from ICB4 to ICB5 possible in broadcom? is it dependent on manager or higher-ups?
Hock approves or denies EVERY promotion request. Very few get approved, in my experience.

how much RSUs does ICB4 vs ICB5 roles generally get?
To add on to the previous reply. Your band heavily influences your RSUs. No matter how talented you are, you will not get a ton of RSUs in the lower bands. The average seems to double at every band. Your ranking also impacts the total. If you get ranked a 3 you might not get anything.
Every March you are given X amount of RSU's units that will vest quarterly for the next 4 years. There is no performance based review for each release, once you are given a grant the amount of units are yours as long as you are working for the company at every release.
Your review will dictate how much of the bonus you will get, 0%, 50%, 100% or 150% based on how your unit does. There is also another review in jan/feb that your manager does without your knowledge that will dictate how many units you get in a new 4 year grant.
