Don't infer anything from thelayoff. Not only are teams going to be treated differently based on BC's financial goals, there are just tolls all over.
In my team, every manager below Sr. Dir was downleveled but kept their jobs. I haven't had a chance to communicate with the exec team yet, but there is no truth in the statement "Most of the BU leadership has been terminated" -- in fact they can't legally know if that were the case yet.
Calm down, expect uncertainty for a little while longer, do your job to the best of your ability, and keep your ears open for new opportunities.
