Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

1350 furloughs on the track side

650 on the Southern Region side, and 700 on the Northern Region. It is claimed the jobs are to be open again in January, however I highly doubt all will return. Historically end of year furloughs did not return until as far out as April, but under the current regime I am certain some shall never return. I have told all the newer employees that it is in their best interest to think of the railroad as a temporary stepping stone and not a career.

Hopefully the track inspectors are putting speed restrictions on everything possible. Let it all run 25mph and then remind Jimbo of his words that its a "70mph railroad"

I hope the mechanical department is not laying anyone else off! North Platte shop is already very short on all man power let alone laying off! Not good! 🤬

All our crafts in the railroad are a dying breed technology and contractors will take over everything. It takes a certain person to railroad extreme heat to extreme cold weather to make sure our country stays afloat. But the CEO’s and stock holders don’t care as long as they get their money. There going to get there profits and be gone and put this company in shambles then try to rebuild.. When nobody wants to work for the railroad no matter how much it pays.

None of this is good….BUT compared to last time, at least these furloughs will happen SOON instead of these id--ts dragging it out and lying to us for 2 years…If you’ve got less than 10 years, you should have already left but if you’re still around GET OUT NOW…This place is an abysmal black hole to work at
