A number of career consultants (recruiters) and some associated teams were informed of a company-wide layoff on 10/24/23 in the morning.

I was one….unfortunately I have to say this is how it was done. We were sent a recording let us know meetings would be setup so those of us that had a meeting knew what to expect. Keep in mind these meetings were setup through out the day so some knew at 8 and had to wait until later afternoon to get it officially from upper management. How does this happen when we were told not long ago this wasn’t in our future and our managers had no clue. This coming from a family first company….
I was also one of the unlucky. I had such high respect for this company. To be laid off in a robotic way from someone that had zero compassion is absolutely absurd. No answers were given at all. It was clock out, you’re done. How about they get rid of unlimited PTO and monthly appreciation instead of people losing jobs. How does a Fortune 500 company overhire THIS bad?!
I was one and I was just as shocked as the next person. We were told no worries the company was doing well and what a slam in the forehead. A lot of hurt today. The severance package wasn’t great holidays coming up and all.
I was laid off early and only got two weeks severance. It was the most robotic and scripted lay off ever. They pride themselves on the WOW experience and I guess we all got it today! They really need to change their application site name because it isn’t ‘thebestjobiveeverhad’ anymore! Today was literally a joke! I used to brag about MS. I will never brag about them again! Nothing but a bunch of lies!
I was one of the not so lucky ones also…or maybe lucky ones it seems after hearing the rest. I agree with the script reading. Literally watched the director read off of another screen. Like above, very robotic. Effective immediately. We were told on multiple occasions the company was not doing layoffs and we had nothing to worry about. Very disappointing. Even ones with 5+ years were laid off. So sad. And right here before Christmas.
How a company that was such a blessing to its employee pool a year ago managed to mess this up so badly is baffling. The methodology used to determine the retained employees must have been a “name from hat” variety because those that were released would have certainly been retained otherwise. All that MS can hope for is gracious understanding from the individuals terminated because if they get down to the fine print a law suit is certainly on the horizon.
Every department was hit. No mgr’s we’re aware, company wide shock. Severance packages are minimal, and not at all helpful. Very disrespectful and robot way to lay people off. No reasons given. Laid off most people who has 1+ years experience.
I heard about this second-hand. I am a professional communicator. Medical Solutions went about this in the worst way possible. Sending a morning companywide video and then firing people online will ki-l productivity for months and months. The people who were not fired are probably looking for other jobs tonight. What a profoundly stupid way to manage this. This company must be run by rank amateurs.
What departments were hit?
For anyone affected - if there are more than 500 employees affected by this layoff, you may be covered by the federal WARN act and be entitled to 60 days of pay + benefits as it appears MS did not file a layoff warning with the state or federal gov't. It may take all week to know the final count, but you should be aware of your rights. Talk to an employment lawyer and/or don't take less severance than you feel you ought to get.
I was laid off. It wasn't great. Seemed like they were reading a script through the lay off meeting. 3ish weeks severance.
I was one of the many. For a company that I respected and thought so highly of, it was really shady and disappointing the way everything happened. I really expected them to have more respect for their employees. Instead, we were told to clock out and that was it.
Hope they have good severance package
I heard 35% was being laid off. And people who I never thought would be laid off, were. Almost feels like they were choosing names randomly.
Yep I was one that was layed off..
I heard 10%. Sounds like most mgmt wasn’t aware.
Any Updates?
I heard 20% of corporate workforce was being laid off, anyone else hear similar? MedSol really playing the classic Omaha lay-off card here, sad.
