To be honest I am happy to get laid off, I'd just rather know this week, and not have it drag out. I am a P6, and others in the team have had their offers already. I am not sure if they are doing it by level, team, role, or random, but they have put people like me in limbo. I know they say they are rolling out offer letters until Oct 30th, or so I have heard, but all that does is give people a false hope that they could still get an offer.
During the past 18 months, I've gained 3 new certifications (non-VMware), and applied for many other positions. I turned one down 12 months ago which was a very low offer, and only now do I have possible offers coming in. I say possible because anything can happen, and it's a strange time in the industry.
I will say though, if I get an offer from Broadcom it won't be with the intention of staying. It will just buy me the time to find a better position, whether that be 6 months or 2 years. I am sure I am not the only one thinking like that.
