Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Broadcom could be treating us much better during this

Image if BC was sending us generic but friendly emails about the company, with links to their Youtube videos of employees who like it there, and just the plain statement of "we expect this to close on 10/30" to VMW employees regularly. That's nothing different than what they are telling news media, so they could at least have the decency to us.

Instead, they have treated us like sc-m, simple numbers on a chart, without any decency to even appear friendly to us regardless of outcome.

They are going to inherit so many demotivated, disgruntled employees with the way this is being handled. And it seems like some of that could be avoided.

uh no, VMware does not own comms here. By grown up and educate yourself, do you mean make wild guesses without any experience?

Did you "do your own research"? ===)

Grow up and educate yourself as to what they are permitted and not permitted to do until the acquisition is approved and basically closed. The VMware leadership team is responsible for communicating, it’s still VMware. Oh and welcome you are in for a rough ride.

Broadcom is treating VMware the way it deserves to be treated. And hopefully it figured out who has helped ruin this once great company over the last 5 years and we will see them looking for work.

If you expect that, then you don’t know BC

"I suspect most A players"
Probably 1% of VMW. Most of us are B at best. Overall VMW is C , judging by innovation in the last 1 decade.

Privacy regulations in some countries preclude doing such things. The laws can be very strict about what you can and can't do with PII up to and including sending an email. They are the same rules that require us to announce whenever a call is being recorded and allowing people to drop.

I suspect they're hoping that a lot of people leave. Remember, every person who bails is one less person they have to pay severance/COBRA for if they lay them off. Driving away the developers who actually understand the code base is a bold strategy. We'll see how that works out for them.

In order for those asks to be completed Broadcom would need to have people who's job is to such Bullsh!t tasks

BC don't do bullsh!t so don't hire people to do bullsh!t tasks.

BC are a lean machine. VMW is not.

they don't care, if we don't agree with that behaviour, we just have to leave by ourselves, and the cleanup will be easier for them

Not a good what to start at a company. I suspect most A players will leave soon afterward and C players will stay because nobody else will want them.
