@2cfj most companies layoff. Q gives a few months advance warning which i like. Q doesnt fire unless you are extra special. Putting an incompetent managee on a pip (path 2 fire) is like pulling teeth unlike at pipazon.
work life balance will exist if you have work. think about it.

The FAANG companies can easily force their employees to RTO, because they offer so many positive benefits. Less successful companies, esp. those in decline or stagnant can't make such demands during times of low engineering unemployment, but they can get away with it right now because the employers have the upper hand. The pendulum will eventually swing back the other way.
@mnh yes Q is rather attractive in that regard. I applied to my suburb country club and still on the wait list after 2 years

Majority in amazon do not get reap the rewards of RSUs as they don't stay long enough. Everything has a price to it. Lots tolerate it when green card is in progress. For many even that's not good enough and they switch.
