Is anyone serious about going? I just wonder how many people are going to take the severance and run or just quit very soon.

Who could afford to move with the interest rates so high. Not unless you are renting. Also houston is not a great place to be, too hot and humid with terrible traffic.
To tsa: AY has been working on AI for years and I would imagine others have too. That makes anything "word" related automated. Contracts, apps, etc. However everything they do is half as*ed so will it work? Ha!
To single guy totally right. And why commit to a company that has been less than honest for months. Anyone going to Houston should consider they're only being used for transition. And then what?
I've heard rumblings that not a single TSA will be moving. How do they expect to run the app process with TSAs?
As a single guy with very few commitments they’ve sold me on no taxes and a cheap cost of living compared to the northern city I’m in now…. But not for crown. If I’m going to uproot to cash in on all that there are a thousand other companies down there I can apply for instead of working for this one.
I don't know a single person willing to relocate. I do believe the plan is to backfill 1000+ jobs and have us train them by April/May next year. And, then cut us loose. They hope to have just a handful of people there sweeping up and locking the doors in August. But, this is SUCH a massive undertaking. There will be entire depts with everyone, including management, new to their jobs and not knowing the business. It just seems like a recipe for disaster to me. I don't see anyone wanting to buy a company that's so heavily in debt. I fear they will file bankruptcy before we can get our severance.
I’ve seen a lot of people mention working through August. I suggest rereading the email and listening to the company “conversation” video. IF your role is one being transitioned, you’ll be offered your package and can decide if you want to go. If not, it will be backfilled in Houston. Just a guess but you’re probably only working until they backfill your position. Maybe a knowledge transfer after that? The only mention of August is that is when they target to close the offices. I think folks are conflating the two. Maybe the backfill will take until August; I understand it will be a large undertaking but I wouldn’t assume anything. I could be totally wrong but that’s how I understood it.
I know 5 people that are from the first round of layoffs. Feel bad for them.
At least you will get a severance. When they consolidate the regions they will won’t do that. It will be enjoy new long commute you have now or quit. If I was in a region role I’d be looking hard for a new job.
There is absolutely no guarantee that your job would actually be safe if you did relocate. Even if you did, you’d be left working with the skeleton crew trying to do the work of ten people.
No way! After the way this company has treated it’s employees… it’s a no from me. Clearly people do NOT matter. The manner in which they have handled these layoffs is not only dangerous but unprofessional.
Anecdotal; but no one in my group said they would relocate. A lot of disgruntled people, which can be expected.
No way! I would’ve got the first round but theirs is absolutely no way I’d relocate my family for this company. Not a chance in he-l!
If it makes sense to move, some may, many will not (my guess and probably Crowns plan anyway). Keep your job through Aug 2024 and take the severance, unless something better comes along before your end date. Some states may allow you to collect unemploymrnt in addition to your severance payout. I believe Crown is counting on a high percentage taking the severance. There is NO GUARANTEE on the term/length of your employment if you accept relocation.
You can mark me as +1 for not moving.
No way. I cannot imagine that many will actually go.
Hahahaha NO! Noooooo… no way… never.
I’m not relocating for a company that’s about to be bought out or file bankruptcy. Or move just to go through another layoff. The trust of the leadership has flown out the window. Also, 10k isn’t nearly enough. Lol My severance would be more than double that.
