Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

BC expense policy

VMware person here.

What is the BC expense policy for customer facing travel in software sales and customer success? Are you forced to stay in 1/2 star flea pits out of town, or are you allowed to stay at location relevant rates in 4 star hotels like we are today?

Also what is the food and drink policy even traveling? VMware (at least in my country) doesn't have a fixed limit and you are expected to use your judgement.

It's a straight up nightmare. I can confirm this. If your expense report is even off by a penny …

Another reason to leave. Thanks for the info.

Judging by this question, you might feel a little uncomfortable at the beginning.
Broadcom is Spartan in the spending and heroic in the earnings and also sharing a nice chunk with employees via bonus, RSU and stock valuation.

To your question: You won't starve nor be at risk, but do not expect luxury. Read the policy first, twice.

:Any expense 'discrepancies' will lead to 10-12 financial people making your life miserable.

It's a straight up nightmare.

I can confirm this. If your expense report is even off by a penny because of exchange rate it will be rejected and 5 or 6 finance people will be crawling up your A** until it is correct. My manager usually has to approve expense report 2 or 3 times for literally pennies of discrepancy. And don't even try going over you $50/day food budget

:I spend a fair amount of time traveling. What are the recommended hotel chains? Marriott? Hilton, Super 8 or Red roof ?

This is the one odd thing about BC travel. You will get top notch hotels. Marriott or Hilton at the least. I've never stayed in a room that was less that $250 - $350. you shouldn't see flea bag hotels show up in the travel app.
Also, at least in San Jose, pre Covid, Limo/black SUV ride to airport was provided.

However...... You will have to fly basic economy (not premium!) unless you upgrade with your own miles or money. You will be sitting next the the bathroom in the last row if you fly to asia. I've done well over 300K miles while at BC and yes you can keep those miles in your account and use for personal travel.

Broadcom values thrift. Hock has literally said he'd rather buy you a beach house via stock than overpay for T&E.

It is very tight, cheap and very closely managed. Your assumptions above are correct, you will see soon.

This is what you’re concerned about lol

Yeah yeah. Squid games etc.

It's still a valid quality of life question for someone who spends a lot of time on the road.
