Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Layoffs today?

Mass layoffs were expected last week and today. However, as far as I know, nothing has happened.

I believe that if you were to guess that there would be a layoff every Thursday, you might be right once in a while. There's a lot of fear-mongering going on, and it's taking a toll on people's mental well-being.

This situation highlights that many people don't really know what they're talking about. Let's hope things remain calm, and everyone can keep their jobs!

RIFs leaks to Becker’s news. Let’s do a big damage control - let’s boost the shareholders confidence and let the dust settled down. Behind the scene, let’s do redeployment to force “volunteer quitting” - deception is at its highest level - those decision “leadership” all are “certified” hitm$n/maf$a

The reason people are pointing out the executive changes is because the decision process driving the reductions would have involved the people suddenly leaving. I'm seeing it in a few places, EVP and up.

If the people driving the cuts, at least in-part, are out, for whatever reason, the people taking over their duties may choose to pause and reevaluate. (This would be smart, so that they don't end up taking heat for bad calls made by the departing dudes."

That doesn't mean that the the cuts are done, or that they won't resume at an accelerated pace, they are just pointing out that the "givens" have changed.

That makes no sense lol. If there were planned layoffs, how’s ceos leaving impact that? People were calling this layofff on the 19th for over a month now. I don’t buy it. Just another Thursday to push fear but in reality it wasn’t as bad.

People know it isn’t every Thursday. If you go back over the previous weeks, you will notice many people on this site have a clear insight to what is taking place and have appropriately stated dates and actions. There has just been a recent major pause (change in direction) for the foreseeable future.

New IT leadership is hitting rock bottom. Last 2 weeks two separate events nearly took down all assets. Andrew if you have to fire a leadership this is the time. We are not in unhealthy candy making business. Accountability please.

I know due to budget cuts IT projects are on hold or cancelled or stopping for 2024. What happens to this excess capacity or resources?

I don’t think they’ll do large layoffs with the global events occurring. They also calculate layoffs from a PR standpoint.
Layoffs from this company are inevitable. Despite having record profits they will always find ways to maximize executive pay while finding ways to get the most out of the lower employees for the least amount of compensation.
