Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Hock, can you breath 6 ft under?

Some of us walk on water, I’m wondering what your special skill is?

You can make the argument that how he did it was atrocious but that’s how every other company in the US would have done it and many would have been worse about it

Simply No

I know this will get downvoted, but Hock doesn’t deserve the vitriol from here. It was said for MONTHS that there were going to be big cuts. He has been against WFH from way before the takeover. He saw an opportunity and he jumped all over it. That’s what he does.

If there is anyone that deserves to be a target for anger it’s Michael Dell. He planned to do this from the get go. After he robbed VMware’s coffers to give them their freedom he assembled a leadership team with selling the company in mind.

I’m not sticking around to see what Hock will do long term but anyone without blinders could see there was a lot of fat to cut from VMware. You can make the argument that how he did it was atrocious but that’s how every other company in the US would have done it and many would have been worse about it.

IMO, what might bite Hock in the rear is that VMware was always rated as one of the top companies to work for in the USA. Broadcom would have never gotten a sniff to be on that list. That culture shock could drive off some talent that BC is going to need to make their VCF dreams come to fruition. Only time will tell.

Faster than a speeding budget cut, more powerful than a corporate policy memo, able to leap tall piles of expense reports in a single bound! This is the ultra-ruthless CEO, commanding a return to the office five days a week with the wave of a memo.

Watch as he zooms through the hallways, enforcing lights-off policies to save pennies, and marvel as he single-handedly bans all but the most essential of paper clips.

His presence ensures that every penny is pinched, every budget slashed, and every office chair filled, Monday through Friday, no exceptions!

Except those that walk on water.
