β€œWith the EUC announcement made yesterday, EUC layoff is soon coming.”

Opposite. There are lots of new EUC positions being posted with more to come. EUC is growing, not shrinking

The leaders that have been in the process will take learnings with them to their new world. If you do not notice a Broadcom approach in a couple of things, then they haven’t learned anything. In that case, are they that good?

@yod+1pYtGT4v

That could spoil a deal. That's why vmw didn't do layoffs during the acquisition process.

but the buyer could be worse than Broadcom

Like who? Is that possible?

Carbon Black is a buy simply from the standpoint of having a large customer base in a saturated market. Some of the tech might be useful, and certainly the engineering talent is also a selling point.

The EUC and Carbon Black BUs will need to find a PE buyer who can raise the capital to fund the acquisition - that's not an easy task in the current economy

Given that Broadcom and CB both prominently announced yesterday that CB will be divested, that's a strong signal that a buyer has been identified and it's in the works.

Well, CB has a chance at success, but... the good old days are over no matter how you slice it.

So wrong on EUC layoffs. EUC is going to be hiring in the not to distant future.

Getting moved to EUC is a blessing, gets you away from the Hock sh-t show.

Being in EUC or CB means having no option to choose a layoff instead of staying. It means almost all of the bad that comes with the acquisition without the additional RSU compensation. It also means theres a chance of being bought by somebody better than Broadcom which is nice, but the buyer could be worse than Broadcom. Either way layoffs are very likely and if they are done by the new employer there is no guarantee that the package will be as generous as the one offered by Broadcom.

The grass is always greener I guess. I'm in EUC and envy everyone who had the option to take a layoff package.

The EUC and Carbon Black BUs will need to find a PE buyer who can raise the capital to fund the acquisition - that's not an easy task in the current economy. Also, I wonder who would want to optimize (cut operating costs) these legacy software product lines. It may take a very long time to find someone willing to take on the turn-around challenge.

You and you alone is responsible for your future and career. Not VMware, not Bcom ... take responsibility yourself, brush up on your skills and leave if you don't like it. Otherwise shut up and do your job.

Sick of people sitting back and complain ... Reminds me of the meme where a dog sits in a room of fire and says "I's fine" ...

Yes, without the humongous vSphere for Desktops discount and important vSphere features like Instant Clone Horizon is just not viable. There are much better non-vSphere solutions today and I do not mean Citrix. The worst thing to do to a legacy product is cripple its features.

Both BUs are collections of dying products. There are far better solutions than Carbon Black. Microsoft Intune has decimated the Airwatch/Workspace One business and without reduced-price vSphere and its key features Horizon will never make it out of single digit market share. They will be sold to even more slap dash PE firms than Broadcom and milked for their declining license revenue.

well do you have the option to decline the offer? I declined my FT offer this week after lots of consideration... All experience so far feels like a culture shock, a one man show. No culture but transactions... so I don't think I'd be happy taking on this job which likely has no future growth either. By declining on time I believe there's still an option for severance package in some regions.
