VMware offices in Norway, Finland, Denmark & Luxembourg are closed and people got fired. (as BC didn't had an entity in those countries) . Some had the opportunity to work for VMware by Broadcom as a contractor through a third party.

In Austria offers have already been sent out. I am not sure if there were actual lay-offs, but I have heard that some folks got subpar offers. I would not be surprised if some/many(?) would not accept their offer and therefore start negotiations re. severance and generally the termination of the employment contract by mutual consent. FWIW, all Austrian employees have been reported to the "AMS Frühwansystem" (https://www.ams.at/unternehmen/personalsicherung-und-fruehwarnsystem/fruehwarnsystem#frhwarnsystem45aamfginwelchenfllenmssensiekndigungenanzeigen).

Each EU country has its own law. Processes and packages will look very different.

For Germany, read your BGB §613a, let your works council - if present - keep them busy and/or get a personal layer.

Both Germany and France will be the last two countries in EMEA to get the letter due to strong legal protections. Thanks to the overall stronger legal rights in EMEA, many of you won’t be going through the bare minimum treatment like some APJ countries.

Germany has very strong labor protection laws, nothing will happen there until at least August 2024.

Broadcom already announced to retract out of some EU countries and layoffs already started in some countries.
