Xmas party charades

Are any of you having Xmas parties? I don't think they are so much parties anymore, but rather a wake as we mourn those who were removed from their roles over the past 12 months.

Ours was a very sad event with the sales director degrading everyone who attended and was basically bullying to the point that people just left early.

There was a manager I knew who paid for his staff to go out for a xmas celebration. He even flew up to the office on his own coin to attend in person. No fanfare, just honest commitment to his staff to ensure they celebrated the end of the year without all of the political and nonsense now pervading the organisation.

Real Teradata never had a Xmas party after a layoff . But employees always come together with managers to do potlucks and had the gathering anyways.

The current Teradud, even with a budget through out the year, there are many stories of responsible old timer managers paying out of their pockets to take their team out to lunch. If the ELT provide any funding, there were various conditions and angles. Many managers were reluctant to use it because of fear that they are spending alot and might expose them to being laid off themselves.

The culture has changed and there's no longer trust or respect for current management given their two face character and actions. Any gathering now is merely window dressing so they don't get reamed on the next survey.

I didn’t hear about those parties…I was there. They were great! I got awarded a $2,000 bonus at one. Right after the full buffet with giant bowls of shrimp. The last year I was there, five of us went to Olive Garden for Christmas.

Two posts down, curious how long ago you heard about those grand holiday parties here.

The few years before the pandemic in San Diego, I only remember a mediocre free buffet lunch out in the courtyard on and a Teradata Cares spot to build some things for non-profits.

We can't even call it a xmas party anymore. It has to be called an "end of year event" because god forbid you don't want to upset the lgbtqi+-% groups who don't believe in santa. This is how woke the place has become now.

No wonder only about 30% attended this year. The silent majority are protesting

Former emp here - when I started with TD, I heard stories of previous Xmas Parties where the ELT would give out great bonuses and lavish gifts to recognize great work! People were proud to work there, wore company logo clothing and were rewarded. Then BAM...mo--ns were hired, bad management, "if it ain't broke" mentality shot up thru the ranks and here we are today!

So sad how this place has devolved. Mgmt and team members used to build the product, company, and culture together. When we were struggling, we had potluck, people looked forward to it, and everyone showed up to see and appreciate each other. And as we grew and had more funding, the culture was the same.

Now, mgmt tell us how a culture should be. They spend and utilize any gathering as a way to infiltrate, execute their agendas, check off the employee satisfaction survey box, and provide false sense of caring. People avoid the gatherings via previously scheduled meetings, vacations, or just plain work and don't show up because they're sick of being around the grifters. They have no trust or respect for mgmt and rightfully so.
