Thread regarding Corel layoffs

Hiring that leads to layoffs and job elimination

CEO Christa Quarles has not brought any new thought leadership to the company formerly known as Corel or the various M&As. All she has brought is multiple hires from OpenTable who do not have the level of experience required. For every OpenTable 'Chief blah blah' there is an outgoing employee who had to interview for their job.

  • CRO Andrea Johnston arrives and VP of Sales exits. Andrea had the decency to get out.
  • Reorg the IT infrastructure who was managed by the CFO by removing the Data Management team to "be close to her".
  • Chief Legal Officer Connie Chen arrives though we already had a sufficient and pleasant legal department and did some odd reorg
  • Chief People Officer Scott Day arrives after a messy exit of the former head of HR.
  • Chief Data Officer Grant Parsamyan arrives to take on the data management team that previously reported to the CIO. Seems you finally got that head count approved in 2021 which is why Grant arrived in 2022.

Then POOF layoffs are announced, starting with the removal the of CFO and followed by laying off the CIO, SVP Global Business Operations who reported to the CFO.

Across the globe, CEOs provide layoff announcements. Prior to Christa layoffs were part of the tech press and communication. Oddly enough, Christa missed two opportunities to provide communication of layoffs like most competent and respected CEOs. Usually they explain why and what will be done to recover given the impact on people's lives.

Now we have a Chief Information and Data Officer (CIO, CDO) Grant Parasamyan who does not have the experience required to run an infrastructure team.

Nothing has improved, yet chaos abounds due to the lack of skills, knowledge and frankly cultural mismatch with the ELT.

Chief People Officer Scott Day botched the comp study. The reality is the comp study only applies to certain people and not the C-level or those from OpenTable.
