Legal issues for BC

I ended up reaching out to BC HR multiple times and no response. I ended up leaving using the VM process and was under an impression that I wont be elegible for a severance. BC started reaching out for me to sign a release. (Not happening). I reached out over 20 times in the last 2 weeks, and now you want me to help you out!!

Looks like a lot of people were on the same position as me. One other thing that they are doing is giving people a new role on a different BU, and make them RTO. Again this is a very well known practice and the court system will have the final saying.

I presented my case to an attorney, and he clearly pointed out that large corporations tend to do this practice quite often. Im taking this on the legal route.

It's definitely worth your while to reach out to a reputable Employment Lawyer. In most cases the initial consult is free and they will charge 30% of what you receive OVER and ABOVE your current severance offer. They will compare your situation (age, years of service) against case law and let you know what you should be receiving. VMware wont negotiate so expect your case to go to court. But at least you'll have all the information to decide whether or not its worth pursuing. I've been there, and no I'm not a lawyer...

Do you think BC doesn’t have attorneys before following all these practices. I am sure they are well advised. Remember they have given you a BC offer and you have accepted it.

US region. As far as i know, I have a very competent attorney willing to charge nothing and just take a percentage

What state and what's the basis your lawyer thinks you can sue / seek settlement

Be aware these lawyers will have you sign a contract and happily take 30% of your severance package you would have received anyway. Happens all the time in insurance.

US region. As far as i know, I have a very competent attorney willing to charge nothing and just take a percentage once we go into settlement. I wont pay any money to anyone, but here is a win-win situation for my attorney and I. Maybe we can turn this into a class-action.

Hate to break it to you but it's pretty much take it or leave it. What you gonna do if the lawyer says contract should be changed - do you REALLY think AVGO goes out of the way to amend it for you - they just let you go ....

Some on our team asked for (and received) VMW severance before the acquisition closed. In hindsight, I now wish that I had the foresight to anticipate that AVGO would do anything to avoid or limit paying severance costs wherever possible. Lesson learned.

The lawyers will happily take your money and tell you sweet nothings. However, they won't tell you that we, the people, gave all our power away to the corporations. We have no worker rights. BC has no union and no collective bargaining. Good luck. Happy hunting.
