Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Major Layoffs After Holidays

Sales are tanking, the economy is tanking, inflation is still high. What does that all mean for you? Come January F/T, Sales Specialists, and certain Management positions will be eliminated. I’m an ASM and I’ve seen the numbers, not good. Corporate will offer P/T to as many as they can get away with to save unemployment. Happy Holidays and God Bless!

Yea, pretty soon anything over 20 bucks will be under lock and key. The problem is they don't have any employees to unlock them! Great strategy Melvin. I am sure your LTR scores will be great with customers waiting around for their product.

I can understand why Lowe's doesn't make any money. I was at a store here in the Charlotte area, waiting at least 20 minutes for some help. The person getting me help was very kind and trying to get someone to unlock the Ring equipment. My patience's grew thin (mind you it was 8:30 am and the store was empty) and before I left the store, I was standing near the self check out, this man came in, and 10 minutes later walked out of the store with a DeWalt tool. It was a large box. Estimating a $200.00. They let him walk right out! I was floored. Here a PAYING customer couldn't get service wanting to BUY some Ring equipment. and he just walks right out. I put my other things I was going to buy on the Ring display and went to Home Depot.

My store is the only one in our district beating plane and we still didn't get full bonus. The next closes store behind us is $120k off.

Sorry, but the economy is hardly "tanking". Marvin is just a greedy punk .Do some research.

Yeah, Melvin pretty much trashed Lowe's in the past 5 years.

With the economy contracting, I think you'll see Lowe's and others have layoffs and probably even close down some underperforming stores. Sales and profits are going to come down, so expenses will have to also.

The trimming of specialist positions is all but guaranteed next year. Depts like Millwork, interior decor (if your store still has one), and cabinetry are all targets for deletion with IHC available as a one-stop shop and install. Two of those three depts have higher learning curves as well which makes training new associates difficult. All while the store has to eat miscalculated fk-ups via markdowns.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen as many dogs in there lately. Probably because I'm not going.

I don't know who you layoff? When there's nobody around to help you when you walk in?

Retail 101, we have at least 3 sales people on the floor in every department, we stock our shelves, we sell the product to the customer, rinse and repeat. What is so hard.

Every since Lowe's did that P51, sales have been terrible. Maybe do a P52 and put the stock back where it was so customers can find the product and increase sales.

Glad I only have 3 more shifts to work, then I retire.

Maybe if the ASMs would get their as--s out from the back offices and engage on the floor outside of stupid and pointless morning huddles, not only would sales might increase, but associate moral would as well.

None of the stores in our district are hitting plan. But They are comping up from last year. But that’s not Good enough for Melvin and Tiny Hands Joe! Tiny Hands is well past retirement age, but why should he retire. As long as he can hang on he can Milk Millions of $$$ a year out of the company. Lowe’s upper management is a prime example of what’s wrong with our Country today. Corporate greed is the ruin of America.

I don't know if it will be right after the holidays, but I do expect they will cut employees since sales seemingly are down everywhere.

Real question for all who are reading this:
Is your store making sales plan or do you know of areas in the country that are? All I hear is that it's pretty bad everywhere
