The firings will continue until morale improves.
I've got a FT offer and I've decided to decline, don't think this is the right place for me anymore
The (latest) integration portal FAQ for Australia says you're eligible if you decline. But they've removed and added it back in a few times and have ignored ALL questions about what severance package is. It's such a mess. HR is useless and not helpful at all. Terrible!
Anyone knows if we decline a full time offer from BC, will we still get severance package? Or will we be treated as “resigned” to save $$$ for HT? I’m not sure how strong Australian law is in this space
It's clear to me that most journalists don't understand that modern layoffs are done in waves
Most journalists are not in the market of wild speculation. There may be waves, or there may not be waves.
The old Pivotal Labs team in Australia was destroyed by VMware and an awful sales culture centred around bullying years ago. Unfortunately there will be a number of lay offs in that team over the next few months.
Thanks for sharing the official numbers for Australia. There will be a group of transitional offer soon so the number will be 3 digits easily. Some transitional offers are only for3 months across the holiday period so I’m not sure how this can make sense, at least for transitional terms I was hoping for 6months at least. I’m one of the lucky ones but will see how I go with the new BC experience and how much I can put up with the 5day RTO… if HT were not so dismissive of people’s genuine ask, he could have won many VMWare employees’ support simply by making RTO3days/hybrid. They also take away our private health insurance benefits, so we now have to pay with own salary.
"The numbers are small relative to cuts made in the U.S. but represent a large portion of VMware's Australian work force."
It's clear to me that most journalists don't understand that modern layoffs are done in waves, and so 'small cuts' now are often followed by more later. Reporting is myopic.
