More useless promotions

One of our middle managers in PMIC got promoted yet didn't work on a profitable project for the last 5-10 years.

I had a technical conversation with this new Sr. Dir and he really doesn't know much. I am so surprised he received a technical promo.

Life is tough. VPs and Sr Drs who have to gave up their eggrolls to get promoted. You have my condolences. I prefer to keep mine and have a good dinner with my family.

Xmas fame level is much higher. It is a corporate problem. The regular folks can't understand the Dr/VP level promotions. This is the world of managing upwards and blowing of the ones below. Unfortunately, this is how the cookie crumbles, join in or get left behind. It is survival.

No one called xmas the fingerprint guy. I think the poster was referring to the guy in the fingerprint team. There were more than one sr dir promotion.

@5uum Just curious why do you call xma the fingerprint guy?

Why did the fingerprint guy get promoted to sr dir? He has done nothing for the department. We slave on the bench while he plays on a project which doesn't make any money for us.

Titles mean nothing at Qualcomm. You should all know that by now.
Money is how Qualcomm tells you your worth.
The fact that they pay Indian Engineers so poorly is a disgrace.
They do not value their Indian employees. They work them like dogs, and hold their VISAs over their heads. It’s disgusting.

I was in pmic for a short period of time and I really could not understand why engineers there do not leave. During my first week in the team, I realized staying in this team will be a complete waste of my valuable career.

His manager is as guilty as him to allow this dog and pony show to happen. Don't pin it on him. The rot happens further up the tree. Let's wait for the 2nd mass exodus, humans never learn from the history. This clown was responsible for so many good engineers leaving, it is going to happen again, mark my words.

Yikes, XMa again! Doesn't he have a record with the HR for abusing engineers under him, I am baffled. But hey it is Qcom, what would you expect. The most technically inept, rude, poor communication skills manager I have ever met in my life.

I didn't see any Sr. Dir promotion in PMIC that was worthy in AR23
