Thread regarding VMware layoffs

E-Trade „dividend“

E-Trade insists the withholding tax for the cash portion was deducted because this is a dividend, which is definitely wrong. HR VMW does not respond to the ticket I submitted. Does anyone else have more information?

The HR faq has been updated just this week which mentioned about this. We have all been impacted as non US residents. For certain countries they’re working with local tax authorities to say it shouldn’t be taxed such as Israel Australia and Singapore etc. Anyways this is a space that we should all keep pressing

You need to file section 302 form to reclaim tax withholding.

100% raise this to stockadmin@vmware.com and raise cases if you haven't already. It's absolutely being classed incorrectly and all non residents should chase.

Vmw HR instructed for it to be a dividend. Maybe it benefits Michael Dell if accounted for this way.
