More importantly, what is Macy's doing for the family of the man. Did Corporate send flowers and pay for funeral expenses? This is what to expect if this happens to anyone of us. Injured on the job, workmans comp. Deceased as a result of work? Don't you want to know? Apply for North Star fund is not CORPORATE!
Horrible what happened. Money must be spent on security immediately. Hopefully this will happen soon when the CEO who is nothing more than a political activist is gone. This situation and several others can only get better when leadership at the top changes soon.
What happened to that hard working young man is a devastating reality check of what's going on in our society today. And more black on black crime, which no one is talking about.
Until Macy's puts more money and staffing into AP, we might as well open the doors and make an announcement to all the thieves just to take what you want. And also have a backbone and support prosecution of theft instead of turning the other cheek.
The poster who mentioned taking back worn merchandise is 100% correct. That's theft in its own right. Customers are thieving daily using this tactic. And our profits go down the drain.
Someone named Tyrone stabs and ki-ls someone……there’s a shocker
Philly is a cr-p hole because of liberal DAs letting these people out of jail. The guy who mu---red this young man( who by the way was working two jobs ) had an extensive criminal record and shouldn't have been out in the first place. Now this young man is dead. I don't feel safe walking out of my store at night I have a flashlight and a cutter walking to my car. I've had many customers who are afraid to shop in my mall because of the type of people coming in that are shoplifting, stealing womens purses ,causing fights. Its just getting worse the mall guards are a joke. We can't even call the police unless we check with them first by then they are gone.
Awful. Beyond Awful what happened in Philadelphia. How is the staffing in your store? Do you have enough co-workers working on your floor, especially at night? Do you feel safe?
Our store on Long Island, NY is open well past when the mall we are located in has already closed. Typically we have a single person covering an ENTIRE FLOOR. Sure, a lone manager or "captain" will touch base a few times, but for the most part you are on your own.
Closing 8 registers and making cash drops with no one around is getting dicey. I've already heard customers say they try to avoid malls due to criminal activity or the potential for it stating they don't feel safe. If they don't feel safe, how does Jeff think WE feel. Theft doesn't begin and end with obvious shoplifting. Theft starts in the fitting rooms with dozens of ripped off tickets (and sensors) on the stall floors. Theft starts with the dirty, worn $300-dollar gown returned that we are forced to take back and damage out. Theft is the repeat customer who raises their voice complaining about anything and everything and is given $25-dollars for their "inconvenience" so they won't give us a bad review. When will someone in charge, yes Tony, this means you now that your are taking over the helm, DO SOMETHING. When former NYC police commissioner Bill Bratton ran the NYC police department, he started with a 'NO Graffiti " policy because he realized if vandals are allowed to defile city buildings, it sets the tone for a lot worse. Tony, it's time to make your mark. Do the right thing: enforce policy, Don't force us hard workers to give away merchandise to the repeat customers who rip us off on a regular basis. Staff the stores adequately, Close the store when the mall closes. Save Lives, Save the bottom line,
save our jobs and Save Macy's. PLEASE!!!
We haven't had security in our store since August and the closest store doesn't even have security in the building as the company doesn't have enough security staffing budget. This is exactly why we let people walk out of our building on a daily basis with whatever they can carry. Last week, we had the same two people come back into the store to load up for a second time since they still had room in their car. Lots of rough looking people come into our store to steal and they all wear masks.
It's getting to be that we don't even approach and ask if they need help, not worth risking your lift for a company that chooses not to put security in the store. Feel bad for the young men involved, what a tragedy.
Maria Bartiromo had a segement with Azai Domingo re: alderwood mall Macy’s in WA
On her 1 Dec 2023 wall st show broadcast in regards to this issue.
Is Macy’s security/911 policies injurious to their stock price & quarterly earnings when their employees & customer are afraid?
Honestly I could see the Center City store closing in a year or two partially because of this. I imagine sales will be way down this holiday season at that store.
