Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Any Any Any irony

Repetitive Okta logins aside, from my limited time of observation, Broadcom actually seems to be a more user-friendly experience with Any Application on Any Device from Anywhere than VMW became over the last several years. The out-of-control VMW Legal/InfoSec axis of evil unilateral policies made in an apparent vacuum of non-accountability made for a steadily growing mountain of user misery and barriers to productivity. Getting access to truly web-based user auth, apps, and collaboration in just a few clicks has actually been quite refreshing.

That’s because it was WS1 and not Okta

WS1 was a much better user experience, but the policy police at VMW made them lock it down and remove the zero trust and BYOD capabilities.
My vote would be BC policies with WS1 capability.

Okta at VMware was pretty seamless. If you're on VPN, from the expected geographical area, then have trust.

Now, it's use my random broadcom.net email address that is too difficult to memorize, then password. Then push notification that cannot be approved from watch. Unlock phone, scroll to Okta, open Okta, approve login, fingerprint into Okta to _really_ approve it. Repeat every 4 hours.

Use the FIDO Touch ID credential (Okta Verify)

It’s zero trust with OKTA. You will get used to it. Drove us crazy at first too.
