Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Hostile and Treated Terribly

I had initially believed that the management would exhibit kindness and courtesy. However, the reality has been starkly different. I've experienced an unprecedented level of poor treatment. Senior managers have been dismissive and disrespectful towards new employees, treating us as if we are insignificant peons.

I regret not accepting the severance package and leaving when I had the chance.

Demand any correspondence in writing. That will shut them up. Don't allow them to finish their sentences and ask for what they are saying in writing. Then you can post it up on the internet if they can you and proceed to sue them for harassment.

Exactly as below poster stated: The senior leadership had no recognising/concern/acknowledgement of the talent that are in the trenches (2-3 levels below them but who develop and keep the product).

It likely won't help but the same stuff went on at VNware they just hid behind EPIC2. Anyone who tested EPIC2 to see if HR and management would stand by it discovered how truly horrible VMware management was as well. Maybe it is better if people are open and honest for a change. Reality versus virtual mistreatment!

It's a shame and I wish I could move up my suspend date. I don't think I could last till June with this nonsense.

Sorry, you have to go through this nonsense. The way I see it, the transition work or tasks will be coming from elsewhere, probably not your former leader or he has no knowledge of what tasks are coming your way, the good thing is, you know when is the end date.

If I were in your place, I would just do the task somebody would ask you to do, and rest of the time I would utilize to import skill, if you are technical things like VCP they will be still valued as more and more customers will now be evaluating there options, some even to migrate away from existing vSphere/VMWare products.

if you are a non technical person, something relevant to your field or anything else that you would be looking to work on, use tools like linked'n learning or Pluralsight. Add all the badges earned to your linked in profile, look through existing job posted and identify what they are asking and learn the once you don't know already.

When the time come take the bonus + severance and be ready to hit the ground after a quick well deserved break.

I share the same sentiments OP. My VMW senior leader was given an FTE offer and has drunk the BC cool-aid. For the past two weeks, he has abandoned the team since we all got severance or transition offers. It's a shame and I wish I could move up my suspend date. I don't think I could last till June with this nonsense.

I’ve noticed similar patterns and honestly they are just middle layer whose been offered good amount of shares and have been also forced to push things done. This is why culture and who runs the company matters. I dont even know my fate yet as our region is still pending, if I get to keep my job I’ll take it on until March next year to get the last retention RSU paid and I will leave for better.
