Backfilling at BC

Can’t give a lot of detail but my current vmw manager is a nightmare to work under. With all the churn from rejected FTE offers, will there be the ability to transition into a different role at BC anytime soon?

I wasn’t expecting this kind of advice here. Thank you all. I’m going to try to ride this out for 6 months and either there will be a change in management or position.

Here is a tip for you, ask for everything in writing. Sh-t managers hate that because they know they are sh-t. Actually, demand it in writing. Harassment is illegal. Also if the manger wants private meets, as for the meet to he recorded and for a witness to be present. You will find that your sh-t manager will become very ameanable in weeks.

It’s the hunger games the first year, the manager might not make it. See if you can stick it out. A lot of the level 6’s that came over with Symantec left within the first 6 -12 months (had been looking all along and found something else). Aside from the Boatload of RSUs at Broadcom there isn’t any prestige with title and for a lot of managers that ended up being a deal breaker.

Something to keep in mind. I know people that have had 5+ managers since we have been here. It’s the fog of war the first 6 months, let some dust settle if you really think you may like it (minus the boss).

As most of the things under BC, it's very simple algorithm.

Does the department you want to move to need new skill/talent to reach 55 percent profitability ? If yes, yes. Any other reason: No

Thank you for that input. Broadcom’s business model fits how I like to approach work but sounds like I’m going to have to look at other companies because my manager is an old incompetent j3rk who makes the job miserable.

Same, it’s really hard to pivot to another team right now more than ever.

Very unlikely. Lateral moves used to be the norm, not so much anymore.
