Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Business is Human unless you work for Staples

The new campaign slogan and new AI plans launched earlier this year and now, at the end of the year, there are over 900 “humans” laid off? The “trickle” started in the spring of 2023 and in the traditional manner of Staples the majority were laid off November 1st. Happy Holidays Humans!

Great way for Staples to get out of the year end bonuses payout and increase bottom line so they can go public or is it that JL messed up and needed to make the bottom line look better? The “rah rah” and the $$$$$$$ spent on the front page of the national papers like The NY Times and Washington Post in the “red” was a sign of the massacre of hundreds of humans who are now looking for a new career. Many were productive and or put in the time and were preparing to retire and mentoring their predecessors.

We have experienced thousands of layoffs since Sycamore and JL took over. In return we have worked our job and took on the responsibility of 1-2 other roles without proper compensation. Are we loyal or naïve to think we are safe? I love what I do but the stress is too much. But… Business is Human. I call BS Staples!

Only bootlickers left - no such thing as leadership, never really was - Staples is one giant shellgame. Sale to SP was the beginning of the end, only a few stand to reap the benefit of the demise. All of the tenured leadership have sold their souls at the hope of a windfall - I wouldn’t take one of them to start a company. No one in leadership can look you in the eye and give you an answer. Its “survival of the slickest” - keep licking those boots, it must make you feel so good about yourselves. I’m glad November 1st happened, it was inevitable and has left a bunch of soulless and directionally-challenged lapdogs….look in the mirror, like what you see?

Business is human, our AVP giddily championed that tag line to remind us Sycamore was investing in the human experience as opposed to AI, that we had job security because of this, one day a pizza party, next day locked out, denied access to the building, and given an appt to pick up personal belongings. Business is Inhumane at Staples

Business is Human, go team Staples! I am really disappointed and wish Sandy was leading the team. I still hold my position but was impacted by the layoffs with more work.

I hope all who were affected find a better career and happier in the New Year. I will begin my career transition in January for personal reasons.
