Thread regarding VMware layoffs

FYI - AVGO shares are available on etrade

After a week and $60 down per share, it’s there! Now I can sleep in peace.

Did you call and they told you about the supplemental cost basis report? I don’t want to pay tax for 0 cost basis because it’s not correct.

I am also thinking to ditch etrade once this all settles. Embarrassing how they handle all this late and glitches

I can see cash and AVGO stocks in Etrade now (I opted for 50% cash, 50% AVGO), however, the number of AVGO shares is way less than what is supposed to be ( Number of VMware Stocks x 0.252), any one else facing the same issue?

I see the conversion quantity but not the transacted price per share. What was the price? Was that based on the Nov. 30th close (as it appears) or is that price set somewhere?

I took a screenshot of my etrade account. Mine are also showing the same count as my VMW shares originally, but with AVGO stock. Yeah. Was quite the surprise to see almost a million in there. But that will change once the conversion happens.

The screenshot is to keep track of # of shares before and after conversion.

TLDR: I can't wait to sell and pay off some debt right before the holidays.

Please - if you're down 12k in paper value since Monday, with a $24 drop, you must have 500 AVGO shares. You were at 475k and are now at 463k. But two weeks ago those shares were 1984 VMW shares@142.5 = 283k. Granted you probably owe 100k/like a third your cash amount in taxes now, but you're still up 180k on paper. (And much more if you consider a failed deal tanking VMW.)

If you're saying you're down 12k from the almost 1k AVGO peak, dream on - you really shouldnt value your current holdings based only on the all time high, from before the deal even closed. Take the win and don't regret missing a little value. What if you had panic sold at any time leading up to the close?

And really, compare to the share price in May - at May values you'd have 315k AVGO. What did you do between now and then to deserve a +160k bump instead of +148k?

short question - normally in VMware sellable stocks should bei Vested-tax = vested*0.5 ?
I saw only 25% of my vested stocks as sellable on one package.
Any idea ?

I’m also seeing the cost basis is 0 and the whole amount as capital gains. So I guess it’s still not right. But hopefully that’ll be fixed soon. Hopefully…

I lost 12k in 4 days. I should have transferred my VMW shares from etrade to another broker when I left VMware last year.

Etrade is showing the cost basis of the shares as zero for me and the whole amount of stock as capital gain in the Sell tab. I'm not sure if this will get corrected tomorrow after market opens.

The total value amount seems not correct. Looks it is the original VMW share# multiples AVGO share price now, and I guess e-trade will fix it soon.
But good to see so much money in my account, even just for several hours. LOL.
