Thread regarding Adidas layoffs

everyone involved should get a legit check on the FOG trash? How do we pass off Trash?

3 + years for this clown release? Garbage!

Social media just clowning the brand, Jerry, adidas and all things on this release. OMG, the LA Office better buy every item and give to Good WIll in hopes ever single item ends up in a third world country used as shower curtains or bediing for some animal shelter dogs.

How in the world can anyone Justify the $$ spent , the time, the pains and even senior leadership for allowing this release to the public. PLease Please please spend every allocated remaining dollar in the budget to burn or buy the inventory back. All the posts for the last 2 years have to fruition and it's a shure fire bust. Forget about Layoffs just end it. Fear of God is Trash, resource waste at its finest and just another step back. 3 steps back actually.

according to the post on the sell through sounds like there isn't consumers that even want his collab. Back to the original post why are even continuing the collab. I heard that the FOG team has taken several breaks (no work but still paid) because Jerry stopped designing and working with Adidas. So we pay people to do nothing, people don't want his collaboration and we invest all this money into future drops with him, news flash if this one didn't work then the rest probably won't work. Hype consumers clearly have voted with their dollars they think it's trash. If no one wants it, why do the SLT want it. They are so out of touch. Jerry only worried about Jerry, makes these crazy claims that his business with Adidas is going to be as big as Jordan....such a disappointment

PAC Sun today with my daughters and Fear of God hoody was on everyone’s wish list. Our boy Sleezrenzo put his time and effort into his line and not ours. The manager told me the items were OOS at some mall locations and she expects to sell out by this evening.

I asked her if she seen the adidas collab and she said yes but hasn’t seen anyone wearing it.

We didn’t see anyone in the mall wearing the adidas collab either. Not one.

LA Leadership kept/keeps FOG under lock and key, refusing all advisement from mainline. Keeping junior developers in senior roles to prevent question or push back.
FOG was due to release apparel over a year ago, remember Chapter? Slick move from Saylm and Laurel, disguising $90 hoodies as anything other than liability, a $10 million liability just to start, but also blame on MUFTZ for refusing to speak up.
Blame on the entire office. A plague on all houses.

This is what happens when you rely on collaborations and basically outsource design.

Jerry Lorenzo does not want to be with the brand.

from the article in WWD

Adidas needs this to be a hit.

“I can’t get involved in what Adidas needs. I can’t be that for them,” he said.

That man doesn't give two cents about anything but Fear of God, Essentials and Jerry.

The brand needs collaborators that want to collab, that want to promote, that are excited ....His line is as uninspiring as his desire to be with the brand.

The difference between FOG & FOG adidas lines are nil. Jerry used adidas resources and time to add to his line.

Both lines look as though Old Navy / GAP look books from 1994 were replicate.

Here’s a black sweat pant, let’s add a 4 foot string and go to market.

The line SU-KS.

A real low point for all designers working hard across the world learning the craft…. A real low for the brand.

Shame on senior leadership for allowing Jerry to take the reins on the entire business and timeline. As product creation leaders it is the sole responsibility to not only ensure the right product is developed, but to also ensure the right business relationships and trust are being formed and advised.
Jerry is capable of understanding business strategy and staying within lane, essentials is proof of that.
The partnership and failure is the result of poor and inexperienced leadership. A great example of the wrong people in critical roles. 3 years of gas lighting and covering their mistakes, to the detriment of the teams they lead and brand reputation.
What release at scale was worse?

A little pricey, there’s a market for the hype.
I doubt he makes it another 3 years, his legacy with the brand will be underwhelming.

Not sure if blame should be placed, not my taste but we did ok worse releases IMO.
