So this time last year, in the B2B world we were all told to be in the office. Something awesome is coming and we want everyone together to celebrate. We all thought we were getting raises or promotions. Something very neat. We were told to order pizza for everyone at $1 budget per person. We get everyone together, on this nationwide call, everyone was excited. Haven’t seen so many enthusiastic smiles in a long time. Then, the big surprise.
HORENT! Sting the Competition! Wait what?? We are rolling out a new program that doesn’t allow for customization… oh, and we are advertising on news channels and sports arenas too! Pizza party worthy….for grown adults at a $1 per head a slice. I knew it. It was truly like that scene from Christmas Vacation when Clark opens up what he thought was his Christmas bonus and it ends up being a year subscription to jelly of the month. BAMBOOZLED. Word going around that it wasn’t ready to roll out and JL loved it so much he rushed it out. Upper management asked us on the call….WHO IS EXCITED????! No one said a word. The VP shouted again….COME ON EVERYONE!!! WE SHOULD BE MORE EXCITED!!! To no surprise of being let down again by the B2B world.. no one said a thing. No one. Surprised?? It gets better!
Needless to say, total, absolute fell flat on its face. Millions of dollars spent for nothing. Those same millions that could have gone for raises ended up being shoved down the toilet……. Jelly of the month club style.
