Headcount Cuts Reporting in The Media

We will never know the true total of cuts as long as the news media continues to publish only the government-reported data. Please keep posting your estimates of headcount cuts and office closures so that reporters can know the truth.

OP is totally right. I write for Channel Futures, and we’re constrained to those official numbers from WARN acts. But so far we can confirm 2,687 cuts. And if anyone has information on offices outside the U.S., please let me know.

Just saw this from today:
1200 from Cali

Layoff Estimates could be 10k-20k

We will know.

Compare the post deal Avgo 10-k (when available) with the pre deal. Headcount will listed.

BC has about 21.5k employees pre deal. VMW had about 38k. If zero layoff, post deal should be 59.5k. jnj less is the layoff amount. This will be a continuing layoff and you can easily compare the head count as new 10-k are released. For the 60 day warn, the number of laid off will still look lower as those are still technically “employed.”

Do the basic math:
# of employees: 37000 vs 20000
revenue: 1 : 3
to maintain the same revenue per employee: 20000/3 - 37000 = -30000

If average total pay is $400K, each employee should generate at least 1.2M revenue.

Does that make sense?

Why should government data be incorrect? Look at the BC org charts for numbers if you have access. Less than 3000 unaccounted for.

My estimate is about a third to one half of the VMware workforce for the immediate terminations and the delayed ones (transition roles). That is anywhere between 12,500 to 19,000 employees that have been impacted. That is phase one with additional phases to follow.
That does not include resignations.

Agree, but seems nobody cares. Amazon layoffs 300 people and its on the front of the WSJ.
