Thread regarding VMware layoffs

He bought VMware talent, he will lose them all pretty soon

Remote work is the biggest benefit VMware provided and lots of good talent is sticking around here due to this flexibility. By being so rigid, he will lose the talent he is so proud about. Nobody will stick around for more than few months now.

If I have to go to office, I rather join FAANG and do hybrid. Why work in the software division of a hardware company?

Still working from home. Going to be playing some 4d chess with Octane to make sure I stay working from home.

Nearly all of the best and brightest are already gone. And it looks like the layoffs have not yet removed the full waste and corruption. In a year Broadcom will be in serious trouble as it struggles with VMware.

VMware and talent, two contradictions. VMware talent sank the company in 5 years! Check how other companies stock skyrocket during the pandemic, VMware talent did what? Hilarious leaders, coasters on the lower levels.

I don't think he cares , look at the state of his companies and 100bn in debt. Blackrock and vanguard are clearly very stupid.

Count me as someone that the company lost. Except I left a long time ago because I didn't want to work for a company that from just an initial search seemed pretty sleazy and awful in the first place.

These old farts and their rules. They probably don't realize that they could actually make a lot more money if they were actually nice with their employees. You know? Employees that will be loyal and actually do innovative work versus just grinding away to get a paycheck?

I'm glad I trusted my instinct. Sounds like I dodged a bullet here

Not to be a di-k, but if you’re not in sales, remote implementation (PSO) or in a role that requires privacy and/or constant travel, you should be back in the office.

Bro listen to yourself... the biggest benefit VMware gave you was remote work?
Try getting paid really well as your biggest benefit, and we'll speak after about your willingness to go to the office ;)

Let's wait and see what really happens. Go for it. You're replaceable - that's what he believes. In 99% of the cases, he's right.

Yes, I know, downvotes.
