There's no face to face with BC. There is no interaction between franchises. VMW employees will not notice any difference except WFO and being more accountable with expenses.

After seeing all the hate from BC Hock fan boys here, I feel sorry for the VMW folks who will now have to deal with them face to face. And why would Hock not move the HQ to PA? He lives right across the street. His commute is now cut to few mins drive. He can be in office at 8 and be home for dinner by 6:30 pm. Everyone else, please commute for 2.5 hrs a day.

On the plus side, it's rumored the Pala Alto cafeteria will be serving locally sourced turtle soup with steep employee discounts.

Broadcom to relocate headquarters to former VMware campus in Palo Alto
Kevin V. Nguyen11/29/2023

By Kevin V. Nguyen – Reporter, Silicon Valley Business Journal
Nov 29, 2023

CEO Hock Tan has been a longtime admirer of the 1.6 million-square-feet VMware campus.

Broadcom Inc. is poised to make the Palo Alto campus of VMware — a company Broadcom officially acquired in a record-setting $69 billion deal — its new headquarters, CEO Hock Tan told employees Tuesday.

Tan revealed the decision to shift Broadcom's headquarters from San Jose to Palo Alto during an all-hands meeting where he addressed the future of the two companies after they sealed the merger last week, according to multiple sources who were in attendance.

The CEO said that Broadcom will turn the 1.6-million square-foot VMware campus at 3401 Hillview Ave. into its new home base. Until recently, Broadcom's corporate headquarters have been based at 1320 Ridder Park Dr. in San Jose.

It is not immediately clear how the change in headquarters will affect Broadcom's existing Silicon Valley real estate holdings, which include three other buildings in North San Jose. Sources said they expect the company to keep those offices in place since Broadcom and VMware are still developing their respective technologies and Broadcom is absorbing thousands of new employees as a result of the acquisition.

In addition to the announcement, Tan also reiterated his expectation that workers recently hired from VMware must return in-office to work. Before the merger, VMware had a flexible remote-work policy after most of its employees said they did not want to return to the office.

"Remote work does not exist at Broadcom," Tan said at yesterday's meeting, according to an audio recording shared with The Business Journal. The CEO added that the policy will apply to any employee living within 60 miles of a Broadcom office.

Tan outlined two tongue-in-cheek exceptions: "If you are customer-facing, go-to-market (sales), then sure, you can be remote, I don't care." He continued: "Any other exception, you better learn how to walk on water, I'm serious."
