I'm glad all the PODs cr-p is out, never been to one nor would want to be one. VMWare was an employee friendly company, but I'm glad the extreme wokeness is out with Broadcom.
It’s like going to school, there are classes you eager to join cuz the teachers are not only knowledgeable but are able to teach via games, events aka all fun stuff so you learn and grow happily and build strong connections with your classmates sharing similar interests and values; there are also days you go to school to face some boring teachers who talks and demands no activities— just do well in your exams type. That’s the cultural difference between the two companies and people don’t know or don’t believe in learning/working in fun diverse ways are short sighted. We will create our groups and show you what an elevated community culture is like
I think you guys are missing the whole point on how to operate here. If PODs are important to your employee base, find a way to have them without it costing any $. The first year is enough tumult, I don’t think representation is going to be your biggest issue.
Hock clearly has stated he doesn't see any value in them. Same with any celebrations, prizes, competitions, kickoffs, etc.
Partially true. Hock said he doesn't see the value in Broadcom doing them, but he is open to individual business units doing them. If VMware wanted to continue PODs, and it didn't interfere with normal working hours, he does not care.
All PODS are dead now. Hock clearly has stated he doesn't see any value in them. Same with any celebrations, prizes, competitions, kickoffs, etc. It's very strictly business and the art of making sales and money. Also Innovation, he has said he's not looking for new avenues or exploring new ideas. Grow the core clearly defined businesses, that's the focus.

No, you actually can be.
If the company doesn't participate financially in these things, is there an expectation that you're excused from work while volunteering in a POD? Just asking
A POD is a group of VMware employees who come together to take action on issues affecting underrepresented communities. Our PODs create a sense of ...
Employee Resource Groups are voluntary, employee-led groups whose aim is to foster a diverse, inclusive workplace aligned with the organizations they serve.
I'm not sure I understand. What are these things, and why are they necessary?
