Is there any way to know how many people got their walking papers today? What' the total so far?

Broadcom runs a tight ship about $1.4m revenue per employee. do the math, in some BUs you will see a 70% cut.
Affected years ago during one of the regular annual layoffs. In my package they included an older worker benefits protection act notice with the position, age, and impacted. If anyone has that you can copy it out from PDF to excel or something and do some counts.
0% (no one) was let go in Bulgaria (2500 people in total) - all offers were like +30% hike
There should be more clarity once we see the WARN Act notice: https://edd.ca.gov/en/jobs_and_training/layoff_services_warn#collapse-6a96c957-65b8-4ff0-b874-e104d6bdf6ea
20% cut based on published numbers then
So far as far as I can tell, 184 in Broomfield and 217 in Atlanta. So Far. . . .
"It's a massive, massive stretch to think they'll cut vmware down to the size of Broadcom"
This denial of the reality will not change the outcome. Of course, they will follow their prior experience in shrinking bloated IT organizations down to a more effective level.
VMware is bloated so much, BC will likely cut 20k until the end of 2024. I hope they start trimming the manager layer in VMw, especially directors and above, useless mo--ns who caused the company to sink.
"End date should be 20-28K … see how much 15k employees at BC make and how much VMware make… Maximum 10k or less should remained."
I keep seeing this comparison. Not all industries are the same. Some require more staff to operate than others depending on the product/service. It's a massive, massive stretch to think they'll cut vmware down to the size of Broadcom unless their goal is to make vmware unsuccessful. I know the trolls out there think that's exactly what they want, but that's a bit absurd.

Yep, not a peep in the press. They are sneaky.
AVGO will do everything possible to make it difficult to determine the total headcount cut because they don't want VMW competitors to leverage this data for their own benefit.
Therefore, few people at AVGO 'with a need to know' will have correct data. The bottom line is whatever you guess the total will be -- it's too low. It's always more than you think.
And this is just the beginning of the staggered cuts across the various BUs and Geos.
End date should be 20-28K … see how much 15k employees at BC make and how much VMware make… Maximum 10k or less should remained.
Org charts? Where are you finding these?
many in ops got transition offers and wont be affected immediately. BC systems and org charts show almost 24k with full time offers (90% of engineering was untouched) Additionally, only 6 countries got termination letters in the first round. 4-5k seems to be a reasonable count considering the above.
Most of the polls on blind also show only 12-15% choosing the termination option. While it is not an accurate option to figure out, it is an indication of volume of offers.
More than that
I would suspect 4000 people globally
