First time being laid off... Question

First time being laid off. Been here about 5 years since I graduated. feeling is lame but glad this circus is over. I read all the FAQ stuff but I have a question if anyone has experience or simply knows more than I do.

  1. Do we lose access to laptop at EOD today? will we able able to access it as usual during WARN? I ask because it says "we are reasonably expected to answer work related questions during Warn notice period" , so I would imagine that to be able to answer these questions, we would need to be able to have access of to our laptops. Thank you for any information and I wish you all the best for those who have been terminated as well.

I’m in same predicament and the “when” or deadline to send in equipment isn’t stated anywhere. I also take “being on leave” and being “reasonably accessible” for work questions as it being non urgent to turn anything in or until your end date. Theres also the support email for any questions but I’m personally not planning on turning mine in until official end date.

Yes; you lose access to laptop.
Work related questions during Warn notice period is the clause only for Employer protection.
If you are asked to work on laptop ever again, you will get a new generous offer letter which you will likely accept (or maybe decline).

It's difficult to give advice because no prior VMW lay-off was like this one. Who knows?

In the past, terminated employees were instructed when to return their computers. Keep in mind that you won't be able to access any internal systems once they terminate you, so go ahead and save/delete anything personal.

I'm sorry that I don't know the answer to your question (although I am assuming "yes"), but I just wanted to say that I'm sorry you're in this predicament, but also impressed that you are reacting as positively as you are (I'm much further along in my career than you are, and not sure I'd be as gracious in your position) - I wish you well.
