Is the VCDX certification worth getting now with Broadcom merging with VMWare?

OpenText VMware stuff was hacked by Russian mafia in 2022, ,>8,000 VMs (customers including Citibank, Siemens, Shell, Norvatis, Bayer) were infected and data stolen, but when speaking to VMware support, they didn't give a sh-t.
VMW customer here. Been a loyalist for 15 years. This is forcing our hand to look at alternatives, given Broadcom's track record. We'll likely be moving a lot of stuff to AWS and Azure and cutting our vSphere footprint significantly over the next few years. Focus your energy there for certs.
Azure
Aws
Google
Fu-k vmw people will be making moves to get off of it
No, put your money and time into certs with more industry recognition - after more than a decade we only got to 300 - and never required partners to staff them (what Cisco did with CCIE which drove adoption of that cert). The number of times customers have known what it is and been impressed I can count on one hand, where IE and some others I have (which would de-anonymize me) everyone knows about at least. I'd suggest AWS/GCP/Azure & non vendor specific security certs like CISSP.
As a current VCDX-DCV who left VMware a few years ago, I know VCDXs are still highly respected/in demand at VMware, hyperscalers and other companies (e.g., Nutanix, Veeam, Rubrik, etc.) - you've proven yourself as an architect at a very high level.
VMware technology is not going away anytime soon; it still represents the fastest path to the cloud with the lowest risk, and so many legacy applications still require it to run.
I have not seen any VCDXs laid off during the acquisition thus far.
If you are down the path, keep going. The skills you develop to design and justify enterprise-grade/business-aligned architectures are also easily transferrable to non-VMware and cloud-native architectures.
I've seen VCDXs gravitate towards pre-sales/business advisory and some towards post-sales/consulting; some become product managers, and others found successful companies.
Achieving VCDX is not the end of a learning path but could be the start of a new learning path, opportunity or direction.
Good luck!
Honestly these certs have only had niche value in the general IT job market for some time now. Go do a search on Indeed or LinkedIn Jobs to see how many openings there are for VCDX - it's not a ton. And many of them are data center ops / systems engineering roles. Unless you've invested a ton in the cert/test prep already, there are more valuable and in-demand certs to target. If I were going to target any certs in 2023, they would be a cloud engineer/architect (AWS or GCP) or security cert (CISSP/CISM/CISA)
In no time VMW certifications will be devalued, like Novell or other legacy qualifications
It really depends on what you want to do. I will say this if you already spent a bunch of time and money on it there is always value even if it’s just personal to finish something you started. If you are earlier in the process you may want to wait and see
No it's not. It was never worth.
VCDX only helps climbing ladder in PS, as their dinosaur leaders value that kind of non-sense and don't know any better
Who really cares about someone having a VCDX? Old school through applied to old school tech resulting in legacy technical debt designs
Why would you get that versus an aws azure or Google cert lol
No
focus on the main thing (which has nothing to do with certs) = don't waste your time
Go for a higher education degree
I was going to get VCDX, is it worth it now?
have you finished the pre-requisites for VCDX? if yes, I don't think you would be asking that question.
Anybody who finished the pre-requisites would know what it takes to earn VCDX, and will not give-up only because VMware is acquired by Broadcom.
Yes. Get a VCDX so you can add it to your title on every social media platform and act like you know more than anyone else.
why bother, focus on newer trends
yes..
the technology isn't going away and VCDX is still a very highly sought after cert.
What is VCDX
