In the U.S. most large employers do their layoffs in staggered waves to avoid State reporting laws regarding unemployment toals.
AVGO HR would prefer that the media, competitors, partners, and customers don't know the full depth of the upcoming VMW headcount cuts. It creates collective resentment.
The layoff numbers are going to be too large to stagger them - and they are legally required to disclose layoffs over a certain amount (they did with CA and Brocade).
Broadcom HR doesn’t care about the layoff numbers - have you been paying attention? It will not come as a shock to anyone in the world when Broadcom announces staggering layoff numbers.
