Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

January Hunger Games

Any new info out there for the significant cuts coming? I hear major cuts to the SMM/OOM/MBAs. Of course this is to add hourlies to the floor (chuckle).
Heard a cherished position might return to help make stores look good again.
Any other news?

Eventually all this changes will happen after inventory because February is the new fiscal year for Macy's.

Visual Captain here!

Let's be honest with the cutback of visual execution this holiday I don't think visual is important to this company anymore...I don't see VM position will ever make a comeback.

Store directors are useless

So here's what's happening, the company is changing and / or enforcing existing annual leadership head count volume bands that dictate how many manager positions a store is budgeted in 2024. This means that select stores depending on their annual sales volume and related colleague staffing levels will be losing manager positions. Typically, this will impact stores that have dropped in sales volume and currently have a single SMM or more and an OOM, will lose a position. Some stores that have three or more CXM's may also lose one of a position.

This is why the company is freezing open manager jobs in the Northwest. This will keep jobs available for displaced executives, assuming there is a store within driving distance or you want to relocate. If you have been with the company for five or more years, you know what's coming in January. Good luck.

Our SMM is a former MTM so our store is fabulous.. would be a pity to lose that position.
