It's amazing to me that the shares that have been locked up for (at least) a month are still in limbo. And, according to the stock plan coordinators, they "expect" to release them by Wednesday. No guarantees.
How is this even legal?

You are not getting any shares, Broadcom need the money to cover the acquisition cost. You can get a vmware t-shirt though if this works?
It’s legal. Can take up to three weeks to get share/cash distributed . Usually it is much faster though, like week.
I received them yesterday
If Hock Tan would agree to a significant AVGO share buy-back, then that would help to stabilize the stock price and give us employees some time to unload our remaining shares before the market 'adjustment' that some Wall Street analysts already predict is coming.
Financial Kaijus working here, sit down and STFU
"But we’re better off than we would have been selling before close…"
I don't agree. I sold most of my VMW stock when it peaked in recent months. If I had more access to the remaining RSU shares I would have sold all of it long before the close.
Frankly, I didn't want any AVGO shares because I'm concerned that Hock Tan doesn't appreciate the depth and breadth of the challenge he will inherit - once all cuts are done.
But here's the most troubling part. A few will be privileged to unload their shares before the rest of us. They can act on their 'insider' knowledge of what comes next. Hello SEC!

Everything is stacked in favor of the employer. In the overall scheme of things you are a pawn, and your 'RSU incentive' is minuscule compared with executive compensation.

But we’re better off than we would have been selling before close… So if you win your suit, the judge ironically might make you pay the difference.
If Dell and Silverlake get their shares before everyone else and sell, and AVGO stock prices drop I’m sure there will be serious lawsuits coming in.
Dell and Durban will get their shares first
It’s not. They’re just betting no one sues
