Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Who said this?

“Broadcom is a very successful, strong technology company with a track record of R&D investment. And their R&D investment has been growing quite tremendously over the last decade or so,”

Broadcom’s focus on solving complex IT infrastructure problems “certainly is in close proximity to VMware’s role” with customers and partners

There are no product synergies between Broadcom and VMware. Any potential synergies will require extensive development which Broadcom won't invest in. You can create an infrastructure with Broadcom and VMware products but they are just independent products that don't know of each other. You can substitute a competitor's product and it won't make any difference. You could put Broadcom and VMware products together before the acquisition. The only thing that has changed is now you deal with one vendor.

I am reminded of a company called Ascend Communications that was in Alameda, California and made network communications equipment. They were successful and occupied several buildings overflowing with people sitting in the hallways. They were bought by Lucent in 1999 and one year later almost every employee was gone and the buildings were given back to the landlord.

I don't think 20k employees are a few myself but that highlights the blinkers you have on. They should be worried about the exodus of customers which will affect BC considering he is now 65bn in debt.

I don't think Broadcom need to worry about a few disgruntled ex-employees. B*tching on social media might be interesting for the tabloids, but as they say in the UK, todays news, tomorrows chip paper.

The marketing of a brand named "VMware by Broadcom" is going to be a huge challenge, when you consider all the negative press that AVGO attracted in the business media with this troubled acquisition and the VMW employee reaction thus far.

And, it will continue... once thousands of employees report their layoff on LinkedIn.

AVGO prides itself on having a very lean marketing team. In this case, it's not a benefit.
