Thread regarding VMware layoffs

This would be nice

If they are going to lay off employees, it would be great if they do it in January in accordance with what VMware has been doing for years.

Being laid off in January is much better than being laid off now when the hiring market is going to freeze due to the holidays. For a company, that's just slightly more than a month of payroll, but for employees about to hit the job market, it make all the difference

I have zero belief any of you actually work for VMware. If you were, you know this concern was asked and answered SO MANY TIMES internally. If you're laid off Monday in the States, you are kept on the books as an employee for 60 days, and then you receive your severance. Like it always was. Like it was told you by senior leadership. And, as they already told you, you would then be eligible for RSU vesting in that period.

“You are clearly not in sync with the ruthless AVGO approach to layoffs. This is no longer VMware making any decisions about what you get and when. I agree, wake up!”

You clearly have no idea of labor laws outside of the US… in the EU they cannot lay you off without a specific process, which will take them into January at the earliest before any layoffs can happen.

"If your in the USA, they will just can you, in the EU, you get 30 days so you will make it to January no problem."

Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up
In the morning when the day is new
And after having spent the day together
Hold each other close the whole night through

Wake the F up OP

Seriously? We’ve had 18 months notice. The layoffs in the USA will start on Monday. There is no way Hock is going to pay a months salary to be “nice”. Not trying to be rude, but have you been paying attention to anything we’ve learned about Broadcom over the last year and a half?

With euc, it will be sold off without compute so there will be about a six month grace period so if your in euc, you will have time. Depending who is buying which I have a feeling they have an idea already, best hope you have an office near you or your gone. Best start looking in January. If your in the USA, they will just can you, in the EU, you get 30 days so you will make it to January no problem.
