For people who think BC will do multiple small layoffs to avoid filing for WARN read the requirements below -
“A company with a covered establishment that has 75 employees or more is required to file a WARN notice if the company lays off 50 or more employees during any 30-day period.”

Do you all think BC will layoff 49 people at a time every 30 days? Seriously? They are paying lot of money to buy VMW. They have already included costs for WARN notice pay for thousands they will layoff.

Common sense says layoffs will happen after Thanksgiving break. They still need to on board everyone on to BC Workday and ADP payroll. Layoffs will happen after onboarding.

I don't know where people are getting 50 or 65% from.
There will be zero layoffs due to acquisition this week.

My understanding:

Approx 30% initially
Another 10-15% on ‘day 2’ which is approx April/May 2024
Another 10% after one year (Oct/Nov) 2024

Exactly right. On big cuts like this VMW reduction, we'll never know the real total impacted

In the U.S. they will likely space out the termination in smaller groups so that they don't have to file the total headcount cuts with each State government.

The tech media loves to report on these cuts around the holidays, which is precisely the kind of press coverage that Hock Tan doesn't want right now. So, expect staggered cuts

Layoff on Thanksgiving sounds just like a good PE firm approach.
