Thread regarding VMware layoffs

This acquisition has actually given me the push I needed to get off my a-s and start looking for new jobs.

I'm of the opinion this merger will just get extended to be honest and I honestly can't be bothered to just see how things work out, on a personal level I can't deal with all this uncertainty....

Agree with @dtu+1pGwPnCw.

A lot of people that have stuck around till now are doing so more out of comfort, because they really aren't ready for changing jobs for financial or family reasons. I know a handful of people that also waiting for severance. Attrition has actually got quite bad recently, the VP in our BU acknowledged this months ago that its concerning and it doesn't seem to be getting better any time soon............

VMware has had consistent growth in it's revenue. It had it's balance sheet raided by MSD/Silverlake. Alphabet has revenues of $135B, what would happen if you suddenly raided it's balance sheet? The equivalent would be Alphabet being forced to pay $235B in "special dividends", borrowing to meet the difference between what it has available and what the shareholders want. The company was raided for it's money and it's hobbling.

I recall my first date with Vmware. Her eyes sparkling as I gazed across the candle lit table at her. We were so giddy at the time, but some how knew we had a future together. It wasn’t until years later I realized she could not keep the house clean but could run up the credit card. I find solace knowing I am merely a statistic

"I honestly 'can't be bothered' to just see how things work out"

'Can't be bothered' defined the mindset of those who chose to remain.

We all need to be bothered by the negative trends that got us to this place in time. I see no future here, and in hindsight, waiting was a mistake. Like you, now I'm done waiting and hoping. I'm eager to leave ASAP, and will never look back on this experience.

Working for VMW knowing that it has had flat revenue and declining profit for some time now wasn't enough of an incentive?

What about the numerous unsuccessful attempts to gain traction in the cloud service marketplace? What about the slow progress on SaaS adoption?

How many indicators does it take to motivate the remaining employees to move on?
