Thread regarding VMware layoffs

VMware Insider Trade

Prior to Broadcom & VMware's announcement that their $61B merger is progressing toward closure before a November deadline, efforts were made to reassure investors amidst a prolonged review by China.

On Oct 4, lawmaker @KeanForCongress sold his stakes in the software maker $VMW.

Notably, since his sale, the #stock has experienced a nearly 10% decline in trading.

"Insider trading" has a specific, legal definition. And it's not: "Some congresscritter sold stock and then it went down."

You remind me of the guy with the tiger repellent rock in his back yard. He was sure it worked, because he hadn't seen any tigers in his suburban North American backyard. I used to read about superstition in the Dark Ages and shake my head, but these days I see it everywhere.

The stock declined 10% because everyone that made a stock election for the buyout has had their ability to trade frozen. The 4% that remained immediately dropped to near the proposed sale price. Everyone knew that was going to happen.

Who didn’t sell? The value of VMW stock vs potential AVGO conversion was so high, zero risk, and the stock election would bing your shared indefinitely until released some point in the future. That’s not a great ROI if you can sell those shares and directly buy AVGO if you chose to do so to reduce risk.

Others sold shares because it’s profit taking season at the end of the year.

Pretty weak if you don’t have hard evidence to tie it to insider trading. Some politician trading stock means nothing, happens every day.
