Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

So much apathy at HP

I scheduled an urgent meeting Friday afternoon and nobody called into the Zoom.
Leadership needs to be aware of the lack of motivation of a vast number of employees who do not feel the need to support work during work hours.

We have incredible products and services in the works but it will be difficult to bring them to market for our customers with such apathy.

“ As a manager, I often send my team members Teams pings late in the work day to check up on them.”

So this commenter is doing Friday checkups on his staff? He sounds like a McDonald’s manager looking over his little flock of peons. These are professionals! It’s managers like this that makes me glad I left HP years ago.

What a joke of a company.

"With such a lack of motivation it's no surprise that we are having difficulties innovating."

No, your CEO leaves no money for investing in innovation since he spends it all on dividends and share buybacks, a lot of which goes into his own pocket.

He has admitted to this himself in interviews on CNBC (giving back the free cash flow to investors).

I do sympathize with OP.

As a manager, I often send my team members Teams pings late in the work day to check up on them. It's troubling how many don't respond on the same day.

With such a lack of motivation it's no surprise that we are having difficulties innovating.

Most if not all the employees who are looking to not being WFR is doing "work" to get in the favor books of not being retrenched. As such, there's little motivation nor innovations left in the employees. Just do what the company wants. AS the saying goes, if everyone is thinking the same, no one is thinking. Thats exactly is happening now.

Your first mistake was hosting a Zoom call on Friday afternoon.

"We have incredible products and services in the works but it will be difficult to bring them to market for our customers with such apathy."

Again, another HR shill posting stupid stories on this board. No, HP does not have "incredible products" as you claim: consumers are revolting against HP disabling their printers for not using their expensive ink and a judge even allowed the lawsuit against HP Instant Ink to move forward.

OP, you know nothing even through you are paid to post in HP's favor and twist the facts: employees are apathetic because the leadership does not care about them, and here you are blaming them. Just go away.
