Walgreens executives are clearly taking a two-pronged approach to reducing headcount at corporate. HR and top-level management are strong handing layoff decisions and department reorgs. This isn't good for anybody. Top talent is tossed or walks out themselves. Getting right sided is necessary but it shouldn't be at the sense of logic, effectively supporting the business, and retaining loyal and talented employees.

I wish Walgreens executives the future they deserve.

Some team members, including myself, are seeing their status in Teams today - Out of Office, available (or Out of Office, on the meeting, etc.). My Kronos schedule ends today. Does it mean today is my last day and another round of layoff is coming tomorrow? Time to celebrate?

Remember when they photoshopped Pessina into a picture of the inside of a store?

They couldn't even get (or find) a picture of him inside of a store, they had to create one.

This makes more sense that they would do this being the way they have started treating employees and being that this company is bleeding money according to the last 2 quarters of the FY23. The fact is Pessina seems to just be getting what he can out of this company now and he knows that employees in the stores and at corporate absolutely hate him at this point but he cares zero about that and he now has someone in place to be his hatchet man to cut the costs he wants to cut now for his benefit.

Normally, I would agree on the importance of working in-house. My previous job required it and it was actually enjoyable to go to the office but with the micromanaging culture that is ingrained in Walgreen's DNA, working from home is the only thing that make this job tolerable. Plus, given the low wages this company pays, the gas and wear and tear on your car are not worth it.

Horrified to learn they gutted the 200 building and THREW IN DUMPSTERS all of the office chairs that were maybe 5 years old. And now they want us to come back to the office - where is all that money going to come from? They said no money for merit increases. How d-mb are these people???? You are saving money and creating much happier employees leaving us alone at home. Teams are NOT going to be more productive or collaborative in the office because it’s going to be so loud and annoying like it was pre Covid everyone sat there with noise cancelling headphones or ear buds in listening to music to drown out the annoying people around them. Didn’t they stop and think about how much the water bills will be with everyone flushing toilets, washing hands etc? This is so poorly thought out and very alarming to hear what they did with all the office equipment and furniture. Completely reckless and out of control! I can guarantee you, forcing people back is the worst idea ever. Everyone is working longer hours because we are at home overall productivity is going to take a major nosedive. Way to sc--w things up again Walgreens! You just don’t learn do you?

Working for Centralized Services, I've always felt staying employed with Walgreens was very uncertain. You could be fired at any time. It was as if high turnover was encouraged. If you can mentally tune out and think of working for Walgreens as just a paycheck, you may survive here. Walgreens does not seem to value experience or dedication.
