Thread regarding VMware layoffs

We need to do what's best for China and Broadcom

As you know, Chinese economy is suffering badly due to unprovoked sanctions and bullying from America. Broadcom is led proudly by Hock Tan who is ethnic Chinese.

I see a lot of cruel and degrading posts about both China and Hock Tan here. This goes to show that the centuries of humiliation is not over.

We need to make sure that VMware needs to be under benevolent leadership of a wise and generous Chinese man like Hock Tan. This is good for China and you will see that China is the only winner in the end

"I love VMware as much as almost anyone but this seems like a massive overestimation of our significance in the grand scheme"

Doesn't have to be from this acquisition alone, but can be part of a bigger picture like a rollup strategy

The single biggest reason China's economy is in bad shape has nothing to do with sanctions and everything to do with actions taken by the government- or in some cases- a lack thereof. Basically, their government has been strong arming and propping up the economy for years. In a free and open economy it goes up and it goes down. Periods of booms and periods of decline with recessions in the middle. As unpleasant as recessions are they are necessary when it comes to lowering inflation, resetting values to meet actual demand. We bought our house after the last housing crash. A full 45% less than what it has cost during the peak.

In China they have been building and building to a insane degree. There are now more empty housing units than actual people to buy them. Entire empty ghost cities in the middle of nowhere. And to add to all of that, since the average Chinese citizen doesn't trust the banking system they instead invest in real estate. Over 30% of their entire GDP is tied to real estate- real estate that is now becoming effectively worthless. This was all enabled by the communist party, who instead of allowing the market to ebb and flow, inflate and deflate, instead kept right on building and turning a blind eye to where the bubble was so huge that the pressure to end it has now come and there is no real way to deflate it without wiping out their economy in the process.

That is why Xi came here this week. Because their economy is in a very precarious state and continuing to anger the US is not a great thing when their economy is so heavily dependent on our continued buying of cheap manufactured goods from them.

VMware's biggest customers include the US military as well as various levels of the Federal and State governments. It also includes largest hospitals and many other critical infrastructures of America. One day we will all see that this acquisition is part of China's plan to topple and destroy America

Um... hate to brake it to you, but a good chunk of the "centuries of humiliation" were aided by a lack of a unified country and the greed of many Chinese merchants and compradors who could not care less about the country.

Unprovoked sanctions?!?! With well-documented cases of ip theft, on an annual basis, amounting to 10s of billions or more, it's like arguing that 1 is basically equal to 0.

Hock Tan "wise and generous"?!?!? Well, I cannot speak of "wise" (perhaps brilliant and crafty), but "generous"? Go talk to the tens of thousands of people who've lost their jobs or have experienced emotional abuse working at Broadcom.

And... if "China is the only winner in the end", why should anyone do anything anyway? Didn't you just make the case for even more sanctions this this statement?
