How does a company downgrade you from salary to hourly and move you from a higher grade to a lower grade without warning or notice.. just an email saying you have been assigned a training for using the clock system. Do you know at a hourly rate the company blocks most of your capabilities to move around be autonomous in their system and their apps available to your mobile device. This is just getting ridiculous!!!! Pure evil they don’t give a cr-p about their employees… do you know that when a person leaves it actually takes multiple to leave before they will allow a department to hire one person? How about flush out the Executive branch because knowing what they do I can do and I know they wouldn’t last a day doing my job but are paid large sums of bonuses and have executive labtops that work better then the junk they provide the worker bees!

they must hate us. Make us work from home all the time.
whoever said working at home and getting half paid.. please go to china and work.
Many of us working at home are more productive- the time save to go 1 hr drive to office and come back i stead focus more on work.
If you do not like WFH just go to office and work but don't criticize - just follow ur Guru Mr. Elon.
Thank you
Working from home and working in an office does not necessarily create more or less productivity. A slacker is a slacker. People who want to waste time will do it in the office or at home. While the distractions are different motivations are the same. I would argue that the unproductive slacker in an office setting is more of a morale crusher if the manager does not address it and others have to watch it in real time. At the same time, a manager with a WFH workforce can slack more easily as a manager by ignoring productivity issues because no one else is watching and keeping it honest.
To the disgruntled mo--ns bashing WFH...
Unless you're abusing remote work, telecommuters can be substantially more productive. Eliminating 2+ hours of commute time saves time and energy that could have been directed for work. People hang out in your office/cube for hours bullsh-tting all day and wasting time. People take 2-hour lunch breaks at the office. You have to deal with noisy people, keyboards clacking, phone conversations, other meeting commotion, constant peripheral vision being affected from people walking around. You also have people just sitting at the office, surfing the web, shopping online, playing with their phone. Etc. Etc. Being in the office does absolutely nothing for productivity, especially if you're more senior, are organized, and already have a quiet space at home to focus. A happier employee = a more productive employee. If you do all your work and do it well, then you're productive, end of story. If you don't produce, then I agree, you should be let go. There are also people who are in the office 40+ hours a week and don't do sh-t, or are completely inefficient. Would you rather have that employee on your team dragging you and everyone else down, just because misery loves company?
It's not a mistake. They move people around with no regard to the employee. Your best move for your wellbeing, is apply to other companies hiring. Sorry this happened to you.
It could have been a mistake by HR or IT, or perhaps someone with a similar name. You should contact your manager and also HR to make sure they didn't make a mistake.
What type of work do you do? Wonder if they are doing this to only certain categories of a job? But they (your manager) should have communicate this information to you in advance (if it isn't a mistake).
If you just now figured out that UHG/Optum are not the good guys, well at least you did! Sc--w them back, they give you minimal health benefits and they are the biggest medical insurance company. They give you minimal raises, a fraction of the cost of living and yet make massive profits every quarter. They are a profiteering corporation that actually breaks laws with regard to protecting client privacy rights by outsourcing to countries where security controls are loose, hard to prove because they have everything locked down, but those of us on the inside know! So don’t work unless you’re asked to do something, spend your other time polishing your skills and looking for work elsewhere. At least that way your career is still able to progress. The TOP heavy mgmt team are all cronies and it seems you are on the outside, don’t get mad or hurt because it’s business, just get even by giving them back what they give you!
If you "work" at office you deserve half your wage, because just admit it, you are not working at your best.
Talking in the background, coworkers interrupting and coffee breaks don't make you more productive
You are just learning this
If you "work" at home you deserve half your wage, because just admit it, you are not working at your best.
Barking dogs, kids and laundry don't make you more productive
ho hum...yawn. Employment at will. Try working in China
it's bc of the us empire. there are few if any employee rights. employment at will at doctrine (only in the us). we are slaves. work, listen to msm propaganda to "work hard", boogey man of the month club endless war yammer, work some more, pay endless bills just to "live", then you die. it's the us way of "life". sad and vile.
At least you are not laid off at the moment. I was in August and I'm having a heck of a time finding a new job. Think of it as a hearty severance package and start looking elsewhere if you can.
Happened to my team about a year and a half ago. Down graded i job grade and pay as well. They had the option to stay or be laid off as well. 2 left, 1 stayed.
What Grade were you and what area?
This company don’t care they will find some loop hole that’s a gray area and give a stamp of approval. If you have any attorney friends I would have them look it over but just know the more eyes and more push could put you on the next RIF list…which is why so many with the economy haven’t pushed on some shady cr-p UHG had been pulling…not a great job market.
I would ask HR to see your contract signed on hiring because I don’t think they can drop you a grade level without amending the document I would think because that could affect your bonus maybe even your title and you don’t want to loose a higher title. Sounds like there is multiple team members I would make it a group investigation…make them listen and prove what they did is allowed.
